Starting from Zero, Vietnam’s Port Digital Transformation Platform Now Captures 70% Market Share

From a starting point of nothing, Vietnam’s seaport digital transformation platform now accounts for 70% of the market.

After 11 years of operation, the Make in Vietnam seaport digital transformation solution from CEH company has been adopted by approximately 70% of domestic seaports. At the launching ceremony of the “Nationwide Emulation for Innovation and Digital Transformation” movement on April 24, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam needs to accelerate the development and application of science and technology, while creating new momentum for the country’s development through innovation and digital transformation.

One of the important goals of this movement is to ignite the aspiration for national development, promote proactiveness and creativity throughout the entire political system and among the people, as well as maximize the utilization of internal capabilities.

According to the Prime Minister, “The people and businesses are the center, the main resource, and scientists play an important role; the State is responsible for leading and creating favorable conditions for the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.”

The Prime Minister assigned three important tasks to businesses, including developing breakthrough products and services to create differentiation in the market.

As a small-scale enterprise operating in the specialized field of digital transformation for seaports, CEH Informatics Services Co., Ltd. has successfully researched and developed digital products created by Vietnamese people, gradually replacing foreign software.

Established in 2014 from scratch, CEH now holds approximately 70% of the market share in the field of seaport digital transformation. Holding technology not only facilitates the company’s business operations but also enhances Vietnam’s position on the international stage. Once a latecomer, Vietnam is gradually becoming a pioneer with software solutions developed by Vietnamese engineers.

“We are not only developing software but also affirming the belief that Vietnamese people can lead in the most complex technology fields, from AI, blockchain to big data,” Mr. Ta Minh Vang – General Director of CEH – shared at the launching ceremony.

According to Mr. Vang, by combining logistics data with modern technologies such as AI and blockchain, the productivity and operational efficiency of ports have been significantly improved. Previously, a container delivery order had to go through 11 stops and took 6 – 8 hours to complete, but now the process is fully automated and requires no stops thanks to the intelligence of Vietnamese people.

Building high-quality human resources is one of the requirements that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has set for ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses. Recognizing the importance of human resources in sustainable development, CEH has proactively cooperated with universities nationwide to implement a practical logistics training program. Indeed, students not only learn but also have the opportunity to experience a real technology environment.

Mr. Vang stated that seaport operations require more than 200 core tasks, while the current human resources are both lacking and weak, unable to meet the demand. This leads to the need to hire about 15% of senior personnel from abroad.

With the desire to participate in Vietnam’s journey to master technology, CEH leaders are committed to performing three tasks: Building a national-scale seaport digital transformation ecosystem that is completely open and free for people and businesses, while sharing data with state management agencies; developing technology solutions for economic zones, trade, and the people, aiming to bring Vietnamese technology alongside the development of the local economy; and accompanying universities in training IT, artificial intelligence, and logistics human resources.Mr. Vang believes that Vietnamese people are fully capable of mastering the most modern technology and will act to make this aspiration a reality.
